Frequently asked questions
Which phones support eSIM?
Most flagships from 2020 onward support eSIM — iPhone XS/XR and newer, Samsung Galaxy S22 (global)/S23/S24/S25 and recent Z Fold/Flip, Google Pixel 3 and newer (plus a54/a55), select Xiaomi (12T Pro, 13/14/15, Mix Fold), OnePlus 12/13/Open, Oppo Find X5 Pro/X6 Pro/X7 Pro, Motorola Edge 40 Pro/50/Razr 40/50, and Sony Xperia 1 V/1 VI/5 V.
Can I use two eSIMs at once (dual eSIM)?
iPhone 13 and later (13–17, SE 3rd gen) support two active eSIMs simultaneously. Most Android phones support only one active eSIM at a time (plus one physical SIM).
Do China-bought phones support eSIM?
Almost never. iPhones sold in Mainland China use dual physical SIM and have eSIM disabled. Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo and Samsung China variants also ship without eSIM. Buy the global/EEA/US model if you want to use travel eSIMs.
Does Samsung Galaxy S21 / S20 support eSIM?
S20: no. S21: very limited/partial and effectively not usable for travel eSIMs. Reliable eSIM on Samsung Galaxy S series starts from S22 (global models) and S23 onward.
Do travel eSIMs support phone calls?
Most travel eSIMs are data-only. You can make calls over apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Signal or Telegram, but standard voice calls usually don't work on travel eSIMs. Your primary SIM will still handle calls if you keep it active.
Does eSIM work in China / India?
Mainland China: phones sold locally don't support eSIM, and international roaming eSIMs are blocked by the Great Firewall (use VPN or a local physical SIM). India: carriers support eSIM but require Indian ID for local plans; tourists should use an international roaming travel eSIM.
